At work, I was asked by a new colleague how a certain security USB stick worked. This was 10 minutes before I had to leave. I'd never used one myself, but wanted to help the colleague. We tested it, he gave me the pass code, it didn't work. So I went to ask my boss, who in turn asked me loads of questions that that colleague would have had the answer to, but he'd chosen not to accompany me. She had to search for the instructions of that particular stick, didn't find them, sent me back downstairs where I found my colleague already dressed and ready to leave. As I asked him whether he'd received instructions and gave him a run down of what to do now (in my spare 2 minutes I had before really needing to leave) my boss comes downstairs, holding the instructions in her hand. I let them talk about it and go to my office to pack up. Turns out, he'd copied the code but not when to press the "key" button. So all worked fine again. And my boss calls out to me without even looking into my office "See, Ji, how easy things can be!". As if this whole thing was due to my stupidity. Lesson being don't get involved?
